CHRISTMAS in NEW YORK CITY

Hello all-

Remember in one of my previous post, I mentioned that I love Christmas in New York City???............well, here are a few pics that took that shows what it looks like here. I have more...so continue to stop by. One of the pics is where The David Letterman Show is taped - the NBC Studio. Another pic is of Radio City and that is where we have the Rockettes and the famous Christmas Show held. The last picture is of the Broadway Show - The Lion King. My hubby surprised me and the kids and took us there to see the play and it was AWESOME and the costumes......they were OUTSTANDING!!!

Oh...and BTW...I am also posting pics of my children out in the snow on Thursday. We had a snow storm and the kids wanted to go out and play....

Again....I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE NYC at Christmas time! Thanks for stopping by!
Hugs,

Hero Arts Color Challenge

Hello all....

Happy Holidays to you all. Are you finished your shopping as yet? Never fear....you still have until Wednesday to get your gifts.

I enjoy this season so much. With all the blogs and websites showning all the creative ways you can make handmade gifts, ornaments, and cards....it gets me into the creative spirit....and when I feel creative, I love to get involved in challenges and contest.

The cards that I am posting are cards that I submitted to Heroarts.com. This is an AWESOME website that sells rubbber stamps, inks, embellishments, as well as how-to videos. When you get a chance, please check this website out and come back and post a message on what you thought of it...I would love to hear what you think.

But, in any case, the challenge on the Hero Arts Blog was color combinations. They gave different color combinations (ie. teal blue, brown, pea green, taupe, and burgandy) and you had to use them in your project - card, scrapbook layout, or project. I submitted 2 cards and this is what I came up with. Oh yeah, BTW, you had to use one of their stamps on the project....another requirement.

Let me know what you think of the cards. Making these cards were ALOT out of my comfort zone, or what I typically make - my cards are pretty much clean lines.....alot of symmetry, simple. These cards - I think at least - were more collage-like, which is a challenge for me...

So please...post a comment b/c I love to hear your feedback. Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure that you have a HAPPY, SAFE, and CREATE-LOTS-OF-MEMORIES Holiday!!!!

Hugs!

My "Secret Santa' Cards

Happy Holidays......

The Holiday Season is certainly upon us. Where did the time go??? ....LOL!!! But I must admit, that Christmas is my all time favorite season. I love the buzz in NYC that this season brings. The department stores have outstanding window displays. The malls have the Santa and his elves ready to take pictures w/screaming kids...LOL!...(did you ever take one of those when you were little?) and here in NYC there is a radio station that plays Christmas songs 24 hours a day!! - I could listen to Nat King Cole's "Chestnut Roasting on an open fire" all day long.....
In any case, (I could go on forever) I am apart of a Secret Santa in one of my Yahoo Groups and part of the gifts that I am giving my special person is a set of 4 cards made by me. Here are the cards that I am giving her.

Leave a comment b/c I love the feedback. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Have a HOLLY JOLLY Christmas

Hey all-
It's 1:24am in the morning and I have just finished Jackson's Multi Cultural Project that he thought was due on Wednesday....which we later found out upon him leaving school yesterday afternoon, it was actually due today. So he and I worked hard to finish up all we had started over the weekend and cut and taped stuff down....He organized it and showed me how it needed to be laid out on the 3-D poster board. I cropped the pics and taped them down while went to sleep. He did an excellent job and I am soooo proud of him. I will take a pic and post it to my blog for you all to see....

I am posting one of my many Christmas cards that I had made recently and guess what....I created a tutorial on how to make the card too! I will upload the video as well as the supply list.

Thanks for stopping by, and please leave feedback. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to hear your questions and comments.

There's No One Like You & Be Happy

Hello All-

Long time...huh? There are so many things going on. My oldest son is a senior. he is in the 5th grade and will be graduating from school this June. So, I have been soooo busy researching schools and setting up Open House appointments b/c before you know it, this school year will be over. This has been keeping me VERY busy....in addition to my kitchen is getting re-done by my landlord, and there are boxes all in my office/scrap room. It has caused me not want to enter into the "mess"....but I have have neatly arranged it now, that I am able to do a little creative stuff. Here are 2 cards that I created.

NOTE CARDS

Okay....real quick. It's 3:15am and Mr. Sandman has me in a 'sleeper hold' and I am fading fast....lol

I made 2 Note Cards today and the reason for that is because alot of people are starting to ask me for them. They do not want cards, just a little something that they can scribble a quick message on and give to someone.

Let me know what you think and thanks for stopping by!

In any case, today is their first day of school and that is so great for me - WooHoo!...that means more time for me to scrapbook & make cards!!!

I am attaching 4 Card Fronts that I made for a Card Swap that I am apart of. What Card Fronts are (I just learned this today too, so don't feel bad if you don't know) are the fronts of the cards....did I just confuse you? The are ONLY the fronts of that card and what you would /could do is attach it to a standard card. I had alot of fun making them. I hope you enjoy taking a look. I will post the supplies too!

TRANSPARENCY BUTTERFLY - HOW-TO

Hello-

I am getting alot of questions about how I created the butterfly on my Lattic Grid Card and so I decided to post the instructions.

Here is what you will need:

* Butterfly Stamp
* StazOn Ink - Black
* Transparency
* Sharpie Markers (assorted colors)
* Scissors
* Glue Dot (to attach to card or project)

First, ink up your stamp using the StazOn Black ink and then stamp the image on to the transparency. BE CAREFUL not to rock the stamp. Try not to MOVE the stamp b/c the image will smear since the surface of the transparency is slick. After the image has been stamped, let it dry. Once the image is dry, color the butterfly using the sharpie markers. Cut the butterfly out and attach it to your project using a glue dot. I did slightly bend the wings of the butterfly as to give it demension and the effect that it could fly off the card.

I hope that these instructions have been clear. If you have any questions, PLEASE, post a comment and I will get back to you.

Thanks for stopping by!

LATTICE GRID Card w/TRANSPARENCY Butterfly

Hello all-

I am so excited about this card that I am posting...and I am going to tell you why.

I bought this *new* tool and I absolutely LOVE IT! It is called the Scor-Pal and it is absolutely amazing. It is a tool that allows you to make perfect score lines EVERYTIME when you are making cards, or boxes, or the Lattice Grid that is done on the card. The tool is SUPER easy to use and I was sent a tutorial on how to create the grid...and in 3 minutes, I was done.

I also tried something else. The butterfly on the card was stamped on a transparency.....yep....the kind that are used on over-head projectors....I stamped the image with Black StazOn ink. I let it dry. I then colored in the wings with a Sharpie Marker, cut the butterfly out and then slightly bent its wings to add demension. I attached it with a glue dot, and VOILA!!!!....this pretty card emerged.

Please let me know how you like it. I love to get feedback!

MINI FILE FOLDERS - Another SWAP Item

Hi again-

Here are some Mini File Folders that I needed to embellish for another swap that I was in. The theme was 'LOVE & ROMANCE'. I had to use reds and pinks. I a really cute rubber stamp to create this "way cool' image. I punched the image out using a sqaure punch, doubled matted it on black so that it would "pop" and that is how I created it.

Thanks for stopping by

Happy Scrappin'
