KISS Cards - Keeping It Simple Scrappers/Stampers

Good Morning & Happy Tuesday,

Now I know, this card may look like it took alot of time, but it did not. Let me share with you how I did it:

HOW-TO Instructions

Step 1: Cut a 12x12 piece of paper in half. Fold one of the half sheets in half to create a 6x6 card base

Step 2: Get a 6x6 piece of pattern paper. Cut this pattern paper to measure

5 3/4 x 5 3/4. Cut this piece in half DIAGONALLY.

Step 3: Take one of the TRIANGLE halves and place on BASE CARD leaving a 1/4 border around.

Step 4: I stamped the flower image and embossed it with white embossing powder. I then matted the flower image on a piece of white cardstock. Tie a bow on the stem and attached w/glue dot.

Step 5: Cut the other sheet of the TRIANGLE Pattern paper on a diagonal to adhere to the upper right portion of the card leaving a 1/4 inch border.

Step 6: Stamp word sentiment and then mat and attach to card.

I hope that the steps above are clear. Give it a try and remember, you can use any stamped image you like to make it your own.

Today I created a super simple card. I Cuttlebugged the base card, stamped some butterflies, cut them out and adhered them to to the card. Oh, I forgot....punched out a scallop edge too!

The theme for this week will KISS - Keep It Simple Scrappers/ Stampers!! I will be creating cards that can be created within minutes.

COLOR INSPIRATION - Shower Curtain

Good Morning,

TGIF everyone! It's Friday and the beginning for the weekend. Here in NYC, it is raing cats, and dogs, and some other animals too...LOL! Hopefully the rest of the weekend will be better.

Here is my Color Inspiration for today. This is my main bathroom's shower curtain. I love the colors in this shower curtain and they reason why I bought it was because it can transition well between seasons. In the fall, I have more browns and greens....in the summer I have yellows & oranges.

COLOR INSPIRATION - Pillow from IKEA

Good Morning all,

And welcome to another day of our Color Inspiration. Today's item is another pillow from IKEA. I guess you are getting that I love this store...LOL! The patter is actually a pillow case. As you know Orange is my favorite color, and with that said, I try to incoraporate that color in my decor without overdoing it.

The card today has the orange & red colors, but the orange is very muted. I am going to create a card today that will mimic the vibrant orange we all know and love...LOL!

IKEA PILLOW - Black & White Inspiration

My color inspiration today is an IKEA Pillow that I have on my leather couch. I just love this pillow because of the geometric pattern and against my couch, it pops. COLOR INSPIRATION - the pillow at Target

Hello all-

I hope that you all had a great Father's Day Weekend!

Today's card was inspired by a pilliow that I saw in Target. As I was headed toward the toy section of the store, there in this woman's cart was this brown, blue and green pillow. The dark brown was such a perfect backdrop for the bright green & blue. I wish I had my camera with me because I would post this pillow.

So, as I was waiting on the checkout line, I thought to myself, "I should make a card using those exact colors." And then it occurred to me - alot of time when I am trying to a card I get stuck when it comes to trying to pick out the color scheme, but here today, a pillow (something that I would least expect) gave me inspiration. Now, here is the Ah-Ha moment for me and I hope by sharing this, it will be or you too! I decided that I will draw my color inspiration from objects that I see everyday. I absolutely love Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel. I love their furniture, bedding and how they create spaces that are outstanding! So, this is what I am going to do for this week. I am going to pick something out of the a catalog/magazine and whatever color combinations they use, I am going to mimic that in my cards. I believe that this is going to be a fun challenege for myself, and I would love for you to join in with me. As you run errands, read a magazine, shop on line, look at the colors used and see if you can create something using that very same color scheme.

A Father's Day Card

10 Minute Easy Peasy Card

Hey all-

I have not had the opportunity to get online the last 2 days. My internet was down and we had to get a technican out here to fix it...and as you can see, I am BACK!!! WooHoo!

Today's card is VERY SIMPLE.

Pattern Paper (the paper that the bird is made from)

HOW-TO INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Base Card is 4 1/4x5 1/2

Step 2: Cut the Brown Cardstock 2 x 5 1/2. Adhere that to the base card.

Step 3: I cut this shape from a PDF template . You can use any diecut shape you like. After cutting the shape out, I ran it thru my Cuttlebug using the D'vine Swirls Embossing Folder. I attached it to the card and then added the Pearl Gem Stones.

Step 4: I got the bird from a PDF template too. I printed the bird onto the pattern paper and then cut it out.

Step 5: I punched out 2 hearts using my Sizzix Primative Hearts Die. I used them for the wings.

Step 6: I stamped the word sentiment and then cut it out and attached it w/foam dots.

Step 7: Thread the twine thru the button holes, and then attach button as the birds eye

HOW-TO Instructions

Step 1: Create Base of card by cutting 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of cardstock in half. Fold one of the halves in half.

Step 2: Cut pattern paper 4x5 1/4 and then adhere to the base card.

Step 3: Cut the Butterfly out using your QUICKUTZ system and then run the butterfly diecut through your CuttleBug machine using the Swiss Dots Embossing Folder

Step 4: Adhere 5 gemstones to the body of the butterfly.

Step 5: Cut a slit along the folder edge of the card. This is so that you can slip the ribbon thru and then tie a bow on the right side of the card.

Step 6: Adhere the Butterfly to the card using foam adhesive

Step 7: Stamp Word sentiment on Pink Cardstock. Punch out the sentiment using your square punch. Adhere this to the upper right hand corner of card using foam dots.

HOW-TO Instructions

Step 1: Create the base card

Step 2: Cut the Pattern Paper 4 3/4 x 5 3/4

Step 3: Cut a strip of Brown Cardstock 3x5". Use the Fiskars Scallop Punch to create the scallop edge. Adhere this to the pattern paper.

Step 4: Wrap the Pink Ribbon to the pattern paper slightly above the edge of the scallop strip. This creates a finished look. Attach the ribbon to the back using tape

Step 5: Cut the Butterfly Diecuts out and then run them thru your Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots Embossing folder.

Step 6: Place Pearl Gems along the body of the Butterfly

Step 7: Use Foam Dots to attach butterflies to card. Bend the wings to give the look of the butterflies flying

Step 8: Punch out 2 butterflies from Brown Cardstock and adhere them to the wings of the larger butterflies

Step 9: Stamp your word sentiment and adhere to card using foam dots

Good Morning all...

Happy HUMP DAY!! Two more days until the start of the weekend - Yay!

I am really excited to show you the card that I made yesterday. I think that it came out really nice and I want to share with you how it was done. I had recently purchased some Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks and I wanted to get some more use out of them. I had watched his videos where he used them on metal and I loved the way it had come out on the project. I decided I wanted to try it, but after looking all thru my house for some metal, I came up empty.....but then it came to me....I have something that "sorta metal-like". What about ALUMINUM FOIL??? I wonder if that would work? And the card above is the results. It worked FANTASTICALLY!!!!

This morning, I attempted to make a video showing you how to make the card, but now I have to edit it. Making a Tutorial video is hard work....I didn't realize that. I forgot my tape, so I had to get up in the middle and get it, I fumbled over my words, etc....so..in short, I HAVE TO edit it. But what I have done is put the supply list below. If the video is really not so good, I will take screen shots of how I created the card with detailed instructions on the side. So, fingers crossed that it all works out...LOL!!

Good morning all,

I hope you had a great weekend. Today, I have a card for you that I am going to give you the step -by-step instructions so that you can try it at home. Let's get started.

The BASE of the card measures 4.5 x 5.5 - BLACK

Step 2: Stamped the 3 panels, cut them, and then adhered them to the Base of the card. The Panels measure 1.5 x 3.75. The Rubber Stamp is HeroArts Long Writing Background #F2674. The Ink I used was Stampin'Up Real Red.

Step 3: Cut the Black Scallop Rectangle using my Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Rectangles Large

Step 4: Stamp the word message using Stampin' Up Real Red on White Cardstock. This measures 1.5 x 2. The Rubber Stamp is HeroArts Clear Design Thoughtful Message #CL184. Layer this on top of the Black Scallop Rectangle. Add foam adhesive.

Step 5: Punch butterfly on Red Cardstock and add Pearl Gems.

This card is very simple to make. You do not have to use the stamps that I listed above. Go thru your stash and see what stamps you can use to create this card. You can also add or take away certain elements to make it your own.

Father's Day Card

Good morning...

Happy HUMP DAY!! Two more days til the start of the weekend...WooHoo!

As you know, Father's Day is fast approaching us, and I have been dubbed the card maker by my hubby. So, last night I was playing around w/colors. I wanted to create a card that is masculine, but not too dark. Here is a card w/the color combo that I think I will be using for some of my Father's Day cards. I think that I am going to challenege myself to make cards w/colors that you may not necaessarily be "masculine". You should join me in this challenge and post your creations.

KIMBA -- 8x8 Scrapbook Layout

Good morning all...

Today I thought that I would change it up a bit. Instead of showing one of my cards, I will be showing a Scrapbook Layout that I created. I usually scrapbook pages that are 12x12 and this was the FIRST time that I created a layout 8x8. It was a challenge for me, b/c I see how I take for granted all the space that I have on a 12x12 page. On the 8x8...I have to pick and choose which embellishment I would use and try and make it work. Well, here is the Layout. It is for a Friends Swap that I am in. All the members who sigened up, needed to create a page that featured them. We all had to include info that we thought we would like others to know about us. For example, our favorite food, or color. The purpose of this swap is so that once the hostess gets all the Layouts, she would then send each member who signed up, a LO of a different people who participated in this swap, so that in the end, I would have 10 Layouts from 10 different people in my group. I loved this idea b/c it puts a face to a name as oppose to a Yahoo ID...LOL!
